Avery Coffey has a bright future. A 17-year-old senior, the teenager applied to five Ivy League schools and was accepted into every single one.
Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Brown, and the University of Pennsylvania all are vying for Coffey to attend their school. Holding a 4.3 GPA with an course load including International Baccalaureate courses and scoring very well on standardized tests, Coffey will now have the option to decide what prestigious school he plans to attend reported Fox DC. Coffey is choosing between Penn and Harvard however is awaiting the financial aid package from Harvard.
Coffey attends Benjamin Banneker Academic High School in Washington D.C. Since its first graduating class in 1984, the high school has had a 100 percent acceptance rate for every graduating class reported the Huffington Post .
Coffey grew up in Washington D.C.’s Ward 8, an area known as the “poorest part of the city.” Coffey was raised by his mother who is a technician at the Children’s Hospital. He has goals to hold a CEO position of an investment firm overlooking fortune 500 companies.
