James Earl Jones will be making his return to Broadway in a remake of the 1936 comedy, “You Can’t Take it With You”.
It was announced on Thursday that Jones would be joining the cast of the revival of this classic, written by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, according to USA Today.
Jones will play the grandfather in a story about a woman who is forced to introduce her quirky family to her fiancé’s uptight family.
Jones, 87, has won two Tony awards, one in 1969 for his work in “The Great White Hope” and another in 1987 for “Fences”. He was last seen in Gore Vidal's “The Best Man” in 2012, reports The Associated Press.
The play originally ran from 1936 to 1938 and won a Pulitzer Prize. This will be its most recent revival, since its Broadway remake in 1983.
This modern production of “You Can’t Take It With You”, which is being directed by Scott Ellis, is slated to open on Sept. 28.
