Jon Hamm never goes commando, hates how he's portrayed as an 'exhibitionist'

The question of whether or not Mad Men star Jon Hamm wears underwear on set has been a topic of discussion for over a year now, and the actor is finally settling the dispute once and for all.

In an interview with Men’s Fitness, Hamm said he has never gone commando on set of the hit AMC show, despite rumors that he had to be asked to wear underwear because of the tightness of the pants his character Don Draper wears.

“I can’t believe I’m talking about this but I've worn underwear every day of my life, and the fact that I’m painted as this exhibitionist is a little annoying,” he said.

The discussion led to a broader topic of fame in general, and the 43-year-old actor talked about both the perks and the downfalls.

“Being someone who people want to photograph, you have to open yourself up to the positive and negative,” he said. “It is what it is. If I get mad at it I’ll look like a douche bag. But it’s silly.”

He also pointed out that he doesn’t have it as bad as other celebrities in Hollywood. "If I were Brad Pitt, [I] wouldn't be able to sit here in this restaurant," he said.
