A Virginia man is receiving praise for his good deed of turning in an envelope containing $1000 that he found in a Walmart parking lot.
WTVR reported that Jacob Kroko decided to be a Good Samaritan and turn in the one grand of cash he found stuffed into an envelope in the store’s parking lot.
“There is always the thought… always the thought of, ‘I could leave right now and I’m a thousand dollars richer,’” Kroko said. “But the second thought is, ‘What if I lost that money?’”
According to the New York Daily News, Kroko was leaving the store after buying groceries when he spotted the envelope near his driver's side door. Believing it was trash he picked it up and was about to toss it into the nearest bin, but the weight of the envelope stopped him and he checked inside.
The 22-year-old chose to take the money back inside the store and handed it over to a local police officer.
About an hour after he turned in the cash, the person it belonged to called the store asking if it had been found.
Many would have just taken the money, gotten into their cars and left, but not Kroko, who is being commended as a man of integrity by the Fredericksburg Police Department.
