Selena Gomez splits from her parents as managers

The 21-year-old singer and actress, Selena Gomez, has decided to no longer be managed by her mother, Mandy, and stepfather, Brian Teefy.

It’s been revealed that the she decided to part ways from the duo last month. And, the discussion has been on the table for about a year.

“This has been going on for a while,” a source said, according to E! News. “This didn’t just happen yesterday.”

While her parents are said to have not been happy about the decision, they all thought it would be best to allow the family to focus on other things than business and Selena’s career.

“Listen, it makes sense because someone doesn’t want their parents managing them for their whole career,” the source explained. “It wasn’t about her parents doing something wrong or bad feelings, it was more about Selena getting older and being more independent.”

According to Mirror, Mandy has been managing Selena’s career since she starred on Wizards of Waverly Place.

However, Selena, Mandy and Brian all were in attendance of the Alliance for Children’s Rights dinner Monday night in Beverly Hills, according to E! News.

Mandy and Brian’s production company, LH7 Management, are said to have sponsored the event.

According to E! News, they have been supporters of the Alliance for Children’s Rights for about five years. It holds a lot of meaning, particularly to Mandy as she was adopted as well as a teen mom, so it relates to the work done by the organization.
