'Star Wars: Episode VII' casting isn’t done, another actress should be added soon

Just because Lucasfilm and Disney finally announced the main cast for Star Wars: Episode VII on Tuesday doesn’t mean that the rumor mill will stop churning. All the announcement did was raise more questions, with the top one being where are all the women?

The studio’s announcement included six new actors for the series, but only one woman - Driver Daisy - has been added to the franchise. Daisy is the most unknown member of the cast, as her previous roles have been only on television.

Ridley’s position in the table read photo that Disney released might mean that she’s playing the daughter of Han Solo and Princess Leia. She’s seen sitting between Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher in the photo.

However, there is likely going to be one more actress added to the roster. For months, it was rumored that there was a secret granddaughter of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s in the script. While it is still not known if this part still exists, The Hollywood Reporter’s sources say that there is one more female role director J.J. Abrams has to cast.

It had been reported in the past that Abrams met with 12 Years A Slave actress Lupita Nyong’o, but her Jungle Book commitment may keep her from taking that gig. Maisie Richardson-Sellers, another unknown actress, has been linked to the project as well.
