On this weeks The Big Bang Theory, “The Relationship Diremption,“ the guys discuss a gravity wave breakthrough, but Sheldon doesn’t seem impressed. Leonard says he is just jealous because he has been studying string theory for 20 years and he is no closer to discovering anything than he was when he started. Sheldon starts to think that maybe he is wasting his time trying to prove something that cannot be proven.
Sheldon talks to Penny and tells her how upset he is. Penny says she can relate. Sheldon thinks this is due to her failed acting career, her relationship with Leonard or her failed attempt to go back to college. Penny denies all of this, saying she means relationships with other guys.
Leonard asks Raj how dating two women is going. He says Emily was okay with him seeing someone else, but Lucy was not. This leaves him to just be dating Emily.
Sheldon decides to treat leaving string theory like leaving a relationship like Penny suggested. Sheldon reads tips from Cosmo magazine and brings out a box with all of his stuff that remind him of string theory, saying that he needs to move on.
Howard doesn’t believe that Emily is real and he is anxious to meet her. Raj says he worried about him meeting her because he doesn’t want him to reveal embarrassing things.
Sheldon decides he needs a new look, so Penny gives him a new hairstyle. Amy walks in and sees Sheldon’s new hairstyle and thinks he looks too good now and she doesn’t want him walking around looking like “sex on a stick.”
Howard and Bernadette go on a double date with Raj and Emily. Howard realizes he knows Emily, and not in a good way. Emily recognizes Howard and asks if they have met before. Howard denies it says they never met, but when Emily suggests perhaps it was at spin class, Howard goes along with that.
Sheldon tries to look for another field of study, and as usual, he scoffs at Geology. Penny suggests that he just relaxes and let what he is meant to study come to him.
Emily still tries to figure out exactly how she knows Howard, not believing it was really spin class. It suddenly hits Emily that Howard was a blind date of hers. Howard explains the story saying that he had an upset stomach and clogged her toilet. He then climbed out of the bathroom window to escape the date since he was embarrassed.
Sheldon wakes up and finds himself laying in bed with an open Geology textbook, which terrifies him. This comes after a night of having wine. He also left an embarrassing voicemail for Steven Hawking.
The next day, Howard and Sheldon share their embarrassing stories with each other at the college. Sheldon tries to make Howard feel better, but then Kripke walks up to their table, knowing both of their stories and poking fun at them.
The episode ends with the audience hearing more of the drunken messages left by Sheldon. He said things such as studying Geology is fun, while continuously saying the word “geode.” He also made weird noises and said he kisses girls now.
