Valerie Bertinelli joing Food Network with 'The Valerie Bertinelli Project'

The Food Network has announced that they will be launching 20 new series across primetime and daytime programing in the next few months. This includes a new daytime series for Valerie Bertinelli.

Variety reported that the new lineup will also feature a re-designed version of the popular show Chopped. This will feature a new teen-focused format.

The show will be titled Chopped: Teens Tournament and will be airing in July. It will be a five-eposide run of the series which will feature 16 teenage chefs who will compete for a $25,000 prize and a scholarship.

Brooke Johnson, president of Food Network and Cooking Channel, released a prepared statement about the new lineup. "Increasing our development slate to satiate the audience demand for entertaining and informative programming has been our focus," said Channel.

The Valerie Bertinelli Project will air this September on the Food Network.

Today added that Bertinelli has been in the news recently regarding her weight gain but she is encouraging everyone to move away from the shame of weight gain.

"We have to take the shame out of (weight gain), because it's not fair. The thing is, I still like to eat, and I'm going to eat. I think we all need to give each other a break, especially women. Let's leave each other alone," said Bertinelli.
