Billy Idol memoir ‘Dancing With Myself’ set for fall release date

The British punk rocker, with a seminal role in the punk rock scene in the U.K., is now telling his story in the autobiographical memoir Dancing With Myself due out in October 2014.

Billy Idol

According to The Hollywood Reporter Dancing With Myself recounts Idol’s life story, from childhood, to the early days of punk, to moving to the states after leaving band Generation X, and becoming one of the most recognized artists on MTV.

Born William Michael Albert Broad, a press release on the icon’s website describes the book as “a suvivor’s story at heart,” and notes “Idol is a brash, lively chronicler of his own career.” A quote from the book as well appears stating the singer got his stage name from a disapproving chemistry teacher stating “William is idle!”, of which he says “We’ll see about that.”

Currently Idol is on tour wrapping up in America on June 3 in New Hampshire then setting overseas to Europe for solo and festival dates including the Sweden Rock Festival and Denmark’s Esbjerg Rock Festival. Dancing With Myself is scheduled for release on October 7 on publisher Simon & Shuster’s Touchstone imprint.
