Bob Dylan’s draft of 'Like A Rolling Stone' set for auction

A four page draft of the iconic Dylan song “Like A Rolling Stone” will be up for auction in June, and according to estimates, may likely sell for one to two million dollars.

According to Reuters the Sotheby’s auction event Presley to Punk will also feature works and memorabilia from Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, and Joni Mitchell. “Like A Rolling Stone” is a career defining song for Dylan, one that catapulted him into the rock and roll scene and away from his folk beginnings.

In a Sotheby’s press release the Presley to Punk curator Richard Austin commented ““This is the Holy Grail of rock lyrics. The release of “Like A Rolling Stone” irreversibly changed postwar music history. With one song, Bob Dylan elevated rock music from mere ‘pop’ to the medium though which youth culture expressed itself.”

With the unusual length at the time of six minutes, the opening song for the Highway 61 Revisited classic album was named the number one song in Rolling Stone’s “500 Greatest Songs Of All Time”.
