Brandon Marshall signs extension with Chicago Bears

Wide receiver Brandon Marshall has signed a three-year contract extension with the Chicago Bears. He is now signed through 2017.

Marshall signed the extension on Monday during an appearance on ABC’s The View. The extension is worth $30 million, according to the Chicago Tribune. This year is the last year of his current contract which is for $9.3 million. He will have $23 million guaranteed under his new deal.

"He is healthy," Bears general manager Phil Emery said. "He feels great. We have a really good relationship. He gets along very well with his teammates. Obviously the things he did during the offseason to show leadership and to help pull the team together, they mean a lot, they mean a lot to our other players. It just shows the quality of person he is."

The Bears got Marshall in a trade with the Miami Dolphins in 2012. In 2012 he had 118 receptions and last year he had 100 receptions. The last two seasons are the top two receiving seasons in Bears history. Marshall is the only player in Bears history to have 100 receptions in back to back seasons, according to ESPN. He had 11 touchdown receptions in 2012 and 12 last year, becoming the first player to have double-digit touchdown receptions in consecutive seasons.He has made the Pro Bowl in each of his two seasons with the Bears.

Marshall has 712 receptions for 9,050 yards and 57 touchdowns since the Denver Broncos drafted him in 2006. He pledged on Instgram to donate $1 million to “The Mental health Community.”
