Cindy McCain calls Gwyneth Paltrow a 'joke' for comparing negativity in tabloids to war

Gwyneth Paltrow really has a way of pushing people’s buttons. Her recent comments about her job being more difficult than mothers working 9-5 was widely criticized in the media and now her comments comparing negativity in the press to war is getting the attention from many, including Sen. John McCain's wife.

In an interview with Re/Code, the Oscar winner talked about reading negative comments about herself online, explaining, “It's almost like how, in war, you go through this bloody, dehumanizing thing, and then something is defined out of it. My hope is, as we get out of it, we'll reach the next level of conscience."

Of course, those comments did not sit well with parents of those who are actually serving in Afghanistan – much like Cindy McCain, the wife of Sen. John McCain.

McCain took to Twitter to call Paltrow a “joke.”

“Gweneth Paltrow is a joke. Her life is like taking bullets for a soldier. What a joke! My 2 sons serving in the military should talk to her,” she wrote.

McCain added, “Perhaps Gweneth Paltrow should go out on patrol with some soldiers. Kind of like a Red Carpet in her mind I guess!”
