Authorities in North Branford, Connecticut have said that a mother and elementary school teacher, cyberbullied her teenager daughter’s rival.
According to NBC Connecticut, Stephanie DeFrance is accused of sending at least 65 anonymous messages to the teen girl claiming that her boyfriend had been cheating on her.
WFSB reported that the 43-year-old turned herself in to the Middletown Police Department on Monday and has been charged with second-degree harassment.
An application for an arrest warrant alleges that DeFrance used the website Ask.FM to send the messages. The site allows anonymous users.
DeFrance allegedly sent the hurtful messages to the 15-year-old between January and March. She said that she did it because she was mad that her daughter’s boyfriend dumped her and started dating the other girl.
Some of the messages that the third-grade teacher sent were extremely graphic and the victim’s mother said that her daughter became depressed because of the constant harassment.
It is not yet known how the victim found out who the author was of the online messages.
