Counting Crows sign to Capitol Records, announce album name

Counting Crows announced their upcoming album Somewhere Under Wonderland will be released on Capitol Records, their first release on a major label since 2008.

According to The Hollywood Reporter the announcement came from Steve Barnett, CEO and Capitol Music Group chairman, that they signed the San Francisco Bay Area band with the news of their forthcoming seventh album.

Barnett commented, “It’s not surprising that Counting Crows have built and maintained such a successful career for more than 20 years. “ He went on to say the band have a close bond with their audience and is sure the material on Somewhere Under Wonderland will flourish that relationship.

The band also noted the partnership on their Instagram stating “Also, I'm happy to say our new album SOMEWHERE UNDER WONDERLAND is out this Fall on Capitol Records!”

In March, the band announced an extensive summer tour with Toad the Wet Sprocket in support. The cross-country tour kicks off on June 11 in Florida and sees them through mid-August with a hometown show at the Greek Theater in Berkeley, California, and final show at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles.

In celebration, Counting Crows played their classic “Round Here” on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Monday, and “Hanginaround” for a web exclusive on NBC’s website.
