Former My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way announces solo album, website

Gerard Way, former My Chemical Romance frontman, created a new website promoting not just his music but a medium for fans to see his other creative side of drawings, comics, and images.

According to Alternative Press Way wrote a statement on the new website and gave fans a small snippet of new music as well. In the statement he mentions that he is working on both “big and small projects” and has signed a record deal with Warner Bros. for his upcoming solo album.

Formed in 2001 by brothers Gerard and Mikey Way, My Chemical Romance in its 12 year career was highlighted in 2006 with the release of their critically acclaimed conceptual album The Black Parade, solidifying their place in the alternative genre. With a successful follow up in 2010, the band announced their split in 2013. In a recent interview with Kerrang (via NME) Mikey Way compared the breakup to a passing of a family member. He said, "But over time I got great joy and pleasure from reflecting. I was able to truly put on some songs and be like, 'Wow, we really did something. We cracked the heavens.'”

Gerard Way’s new album is scheduled for release sometime next year.
