Has Manny Ramirez turned over a new leaf?

Former Boston Red Sox outfielder Manny Ramirez returned to Fenway Park yesterday for the first time since 2010 when he played for the Chicago White Sox. It was the 10-year anniversary of the Red Sox winning the 2004 World Series and breaking the curse of the Bambino. The way Ramirez addressed the media after the celebration was different from what people are accustomed to seeing from the former slugger.

Ramirez has stated he is a religious person and a changed man. However he is known for being a controversial player who would do things his way. More often than not it would get him in trouble. During his career he got caught being tested positive a couple of times for using performance enhancing drugs, and he was arrested on a domestic battery charge in September of 2011. Despite his flawed history he says he has transformed for the better.

"A lot of people are going to say what they're going to say, but I only worry what God said and how I'm going to walk and how I'm going to talk and how I'm going to treat my wife. Because you could tell me, 'Oh, Manny did this, did that,' but maybe you, outside, maybe you drink, maybe you use drugs, and that's the same. That's the way I look at it,” said Ramirez, reported by ESPN.

Many being Many means something completely different now from his playing days. His newfound faith and religious views are surprising to a lot of fans. Even though his past is not squeaky clean, the 2004 World Series MVP was welcomed back to Boston with open arms, according to the Boston Globe.
