A new trailer for 20th Century Fox’s highly anticipated Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has hit the web, giving more insight into the plot of the film.
Dawn takes place several years after the events of 2011’s surprise hit Rise of the Planet of the Apes and features an all-new human cast. This time, Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) takes the lead, making a last-ditch attempt to make peace between the apes and humans.
In this future, humanity has been scarred by a disease and is just starting to recover. With that in mind, Clarke, Keri Russell and others try to connect with Caesar (Andy Serkis) and the other apes, but their plans may be doomed. Gary Oldman plays the leader of a larger group of humans who don’t think that the apes are anything but animals and can’t be trusted.
This new film is directed by Matt Reeves, who replaces Rise director Rupert Wyatt. Reeves is also signed to direct the next Planet of the Apes film, which is due out in 2016.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes opens on July 11.
