Justin Timberlake receives backlash for Instagram picture at Israel's Western Wall

Justin Timberlake is one of those celebrities who usually stays out of controversy. However, a photo he posted to his Instagram page is getting some negative feedback from his Palestinian fans.

On Wednesday, Timberlake posed at the Western Wall, a sacred site in Israel. He was there to perform in Tel Aviv that night.

He wrote, “The Holy Land... What an experience. I will never forget this day. #Israel.”

However, MTV News reports the picture stirred up some debate as to the long withstanding Palestinian-Israeli conflict over who the territory belongs to.

The conflict was evident based on the comments left on the photo, with one user saying “There was never an Israel, this was always Palestine,” and another writing, ""Theres no land called israel be sure of that , its palestine and forever."

Haaretz reports Pope Francis just paid a visit to the same landmark in Israel.
