Lucasfilm and YouTube bring heavy hitters to Cantina auditions (Video)

Nerds, listen up. May The Fourth is upon us and to celebrate YouTube and Lucasfilm teamed up for a hilarious video of top-notch musicians auditioning for a place on Mos Eisley’s infamous Cantina band.

According to Entertainment Weekly in celebration for Star Wars Day, several musicians including Ben Folds, Rick Springfield, Liz Phair and Chris Daughtry auditioned for Figrin D’an’s Cantina band Modal Nodes. Starting off with Daughtry dressed as Darth Maul (named Chris Darthtry) the gag goes on with Ben Folds as “BF-1138”, giving a nod to Lucas’ movie in film school, Mark McGrath as “Muark Mccccccccc’ Wrath”, and Jordin Sparks as “Jor Din Sparks”. Other musicians include Weird Al Yankovic, Reggie Watts, and Lisa Loeb.

The team of Disney/Lucasfilm and the outfit CollegeHumor was a match made in heaven. CollegeHumor finished the video with long-time friend MC Chris dressed as Boba Fett, getting unfortunately launched when his jetback is hit from behind (again) and they have to settle for Springfield’s “Rick Forcefield” who uses the force to play guitar...badly. May the Forth be with you, always.
