Motley Crue’s Tommy Lee drums on Smashing Pumpkins new album

One of hard rock’s best drummers of all time, Motley Crue’s Tommy Lee will be a guest performer on all nine songs of the upcoming Smashing Pumpkins new album Monument to an Elegy.

“Here’s a shot from the mission out west,” writes Pumpkins frontman Bill Corgan on the band’s website, a caption with a picture of Corgan and Lee in a recording studio. The caption also announces Lee playing on all songs on the new album.

Rolling Stone notes Corgan actually wrapped writing the album in late April, and posted the tracklist on the band’s site. Monument of an Elegy is also one of two albums Smashing Pumpkins are set to release in 2015.

Tommy Lee has an open schedule until July when Motley Crue begin their The Final Tour in which the band promised, even signing legal documents, that they would never tour as a group again. With a 30-plus year career, the band stated it will be playing their greatest hits on the tour, along with a couple surprises. Original shock-rocker Alice Cooper will be opening up for all dates of the tour.
