Paul McCartney expected to make full recovery after illness

Beatles fans can rest easy. Sir Paul McCartney is expected to make a full recovery after dealing with a virus this week, which forced him to cancel shows in Japan and South Korea.

McCartney’s representatives released a statement on his website confirming reports that the “Band on the Run” singer was hospitalized to treat the illness in Tokyo. The treatment was “successful,” according to the statement.

“He will make a complete recovery and has been ordered to take a few days rest,” the statement reads. “Paul has been extremely moved by all the messages and well wishes he has received from fans all over the world.”

News that McCartney wasn’t feeling well was first reported on Saturday when he had to cancel a show in Tokyo scheduled for that day. He ended up cancelling all four shows scheduled for Japan and cancelled what would have been his first ever show in Seoul, South Korea.

McCartney does have time to take some rest before his next scheduled shows. He is set to start another U.S. tour in June, beginning with a show in Lubbock, Texas. The tour, another leg of his Out There world tour, will end in August at Candlestick Park in San Francisco.

The singer/songwriter is promoting his latest album, NEW.
