Princess Charlene, Prince Albert of Monaco expecting first baby together

Another royal baby is on the way, this time in the tiny European country of Monaco. Prince Albert II and his wife, Princess Charlene are expecting their first child together, the palace said today.

The couple said in a short statement that they are expecting the baby to be born later this year, notes The Associated Press. That means that the Princess, 34, is at least three months pregnant.

As Us Weekly points out, Albert, 56, has two children from previous relationships - Jazmin Grace Grimaldi, 22, and Alexandre Coste, 10. This will be the first child for Charlene.

The couple met back in 2000 when Charlene visited Monaco for a swimming competition. However, they did not marry until 2011. Charlene, born Charlene Wittstock, is a former South African Olympic swimmer.

At the moment, before the baby is born, Albert’s official successor is his older sister, Princess Caroline. Politicians had amended the constitution for fears that Albert may not have a legitimate heir. Hs other children were born out of wedlock and will not be eligible for the throne.

Albert is the son of Prince Rainier III and Hollywood actress Grace Kelly.
