Exhibiting yet another new way to watch television, Starz is streaming the first five minutes of the network’s original series Power today on Twitter.
In a press release, the network revealed they are taking advantage of Twitter’s new in-line video feature that enables one-touch playback. The feature is based on Twitter Cards, a program that allows users to integrate media experiences with links to their own content by adding a couple lines of HTML to their webpages. This results in a “card” being added to the Tweet that’s visible to everyone following that user.
Essentially, Twitter users can view the opening scene of Power via a tweet from the show’s official Twitter page.
Power is a crime drama set simultaneously in the glamorous New York Club scene and the brutal drug trade. As James “Ghost” St. Patrick, nightclub owner and head of a criminal organization, attempts to lead a legitimate life, he finds everything he loves being threatened.
The series premieres Saturday, June 7 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on STARZ.
