Chelsea Handler: the real reason she's leaving 'Chelsea Lately'

It’s old news that Chelsea Handler is ending her eight years of her late night Chelsea Lately. The real reason she’s leaving the show is not.

Handler decided to that this August will be the end of her nightly talk show because she didn’t enjoy what she was doing, particularly talking to celebrities.

“To be quite honest I don't really care about Justin Bieber and I don't want to talk about him anymore. In order to make that happen I had to just stop doing my show. Straight away,” Handler admitted in an interview with the Daily Mail.

Additionally, The Daily Mail reported, Handler was tired of the show after so many years and wants to embark in something new.

The 39-year-old comedian will be announcing in the next two weeks what her newest project will be. However, rumors that Handler will be taking over Craig Ferguson’s spot on CBS’s Late Late Show are false.

“Anything being rumoured is not what I'm doing. I'm going to do a show. It will be a refresh situation, a little bit more mindful and a little bit more interesting for me and my viewers,” Handler told The Daily Mail.

With her New York Times bestseller Uganda Be Kidding Me making waves, Handler is currently on tour with a show that is based on the book, The Daily Mail said.

Now that her contract with E! is coming to an end, the funny woman is excited to do things differently. Handler plans to talk to people who she believes will educate her, such as politicians, medical professionals and people with human interest stories.

“'I want to talk to people who have changed the course of the world. Inventors, invaders and people who have been doing exciting stuff,” Handler said. However, she added that she thinks of E! in the way many people would look back at their time in college, “I’m glad I went.”

The Week reported that E! will be filling Handler’s Chelsea Lately timeslot with additional E! News time when her contract ends in August.
