After a couple weeks of searching following the departure of Edgar Wright, Marvel has finally managed to pin down their replacement as director for Ant-Man, Peyton Reed.
Reed, who directed Yes Man and The Break-Up, will helm the film and Adam McKay, who nearly took over for the project, will instead help rewrite the script, reports Entertainment Weekly.
Last week, it was believed McKay would take over, but it was revealed that he decided to step back from the project as he was busy with other projects. Other names said to be in consideration were We're the Millers' Rawson Marshall and Zombieland's Ruben Fleischer.
Reed likely won't have an easy time as Marvel remains firmly entrenched on the July 17, 2015 release date and the film is all ready to begin filming, despite work the script apparently needs. He also has never done an action film before.
Marvel also revealed some of the plot for Ant-Man as well: "Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Land (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mention, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats."
Hot Fuzz director Wright pulled out of the project over rumors that Marvel was being too controlling and had ordered a different rewrite of the script he and Joe Cornish worked on, without informing him.
