New York Yankees host annual family reunion - Old Timers' Day

Following a tradition that has happened 68 times, The New York Yankees hosted their annual family reunion, Old Timer’s day at Yankee Stadium. Such Yankees legends like Yogi Berra and Whitey Ford were in attendance. Different generations of Yankees players and coaches take the field every year to play in a baseball game. It is a great experience for Yankee fans to reminisce over their favorite Yankee personalities.

One of the newest Yankees to be selected as an Old Timer was 2009 World Series Champion Johnny Damon. He enjoyed being apart of the festivities at Yankee Stadium.

"It means a lot to me, I was very fortunate and blessed that we were able to win a championship here, and because of that, I can show my face here as much as I'd like," said Damon, according to MLB.com

Former manager Joe Torre was at the ballpark as well. There was a loud applause for the former Yankees skipper who led the Yankees to four World Series titles. He had an interesting outlook on what Old Timers Day was like for him.

"This is what you miss when you leave the game, is being able to see the people you played alongside of. Unfortunately, when you get to my age, a lot of Old-Timers are guys you managed. That's the scary part about it,” said Torre, recorded by MLB.com.

For Yankees fans the highlight of the day was witnessing Hall of Fame pitcher Richard Michael “Goose” Gossage being honored with a plaque to be placed in Monument Park. He managed to have 151 saves as a Yankee, putting him third on the Yankees all time list for saves, according to CBS New York.
