Manny Machado has been suspended for five games and was fined an undisclosed amount by the MLB for throwing his bat during a Baltimore Orioles and Oakland Athletics game on Sunday.

He has appealed the suspension, which will start immediately.
He doesn't want to hurt the Orioles by not playing for five games.
“I don’t want to be down for five days,” he said. “We’re just going to go ahead and get that down, and that’s it. Need to try to help this team in any way,” ESPN.com reports.
“Well see what happens tomorrow,” Orioles manager Buck Showalter said in response to Machado’s suspension. “ I think right now he’s going to appeal and take 24 hours to think about the next step.
On Monday, the Orioles organization held a meeting to discuss the 21-year-old All-Star. After he apologized on camera for his actions, CBS Sports reports.
Teammate Chris Davis thought Machado should accept the suspension.
“Personally, I would kind of let it go away, I’m not in his shoes. It’s easy to say that on the outside looking in,” he said. “You screw up, you have to deal with the consequences. He’ll deal with it and move on. We’ve already moved on.
