Bob’s Burgers is hitting the printing press. If you are not familiar with the show, it is about a family owned restaurant that is run by the Belcher’s. As a small business, the family struggles. Their restaurant is not as busy as it could be. Bob’s kids lack customer service skills. Sometimes service beats out quality food. Regardless of their hardships, the family is happy and lives in an eclectic city. The show airs on Sunday at 7:00/6:30c pm on Fox and 9:30/8:30c pm on Adult Swim.

Wednesday, August 27, 2014, is the official sale date. Loren Bouchard, the creator of Bob’s Burgers is using the same writers and artist for the comic book. Those writers are Rachel Hastings, Mike Olsen, Justin Hook, and Jeff Drake. The artists are Frank Forte, Brad Rader, Bernard Derriman, Tony Gennaro. Bob’s Burgers comic series is for teenagers and up. The new series falls under the Media-Tie-In genre. This means the comic book is not separate from the show.
You can look at the comic book as a decadent dessert. During an interview with CBR, Loren Bouchard said, “The comic book is kind of "Bob's Burgers" in its "dream state" -- true to the tone, but heightened in its storytelling -- like the fantasy sequences in the show” he continued, “We took an aspect of the show that we enjoy but only get to indulge in sometimes on TV and we're just living there in the comic book.” This comic gives fans the opportunity to spend more time in Bob’s Burgers fantasy world. Each issue will have original content. Also, the stories are written exclusively for the series. Each issue will have five short stories. This is a decent number of stories, and each family gets their own segment. The following stories are in the first issue: "Louise's Unsolved Mysteries," "Tina's Erotic Friend Fiction," "A Gene Belcher Original Musical," "Letters Written by Linda" and "Bob's Burgers of the Day." Tina’s title alone define tally earns the comic a teen rating.
Overall, the comic book looks promising. The art from the comic book looks like a still shot of the show. My only concern is Loren Bouchard maybe spreading himself too thin. Yes, he has the same team of people working on the comic, but these are simultaneous projects. He isn’t ending the series to focus on the comic. How often issues are released may interfere with the quality of the show.
