Fallout from the LeBron James decision and other NBA notes:

There has been much reaction to LeBron James’ decision to go back home and rejoin the Cleveland Cavaliers. Fans and celebrities alike took Twitter immediately.

James is the type of super-star that commands strong reaction, both positively and negatively. While the heart-felt story of “The King” returning home cannot be disputed, some actually still deny that was James’ true motive (returning home). In any event, the way James handled this summer as opposed to the summer of 2010 was a giant improvement. The city of Cleveland is now officially back.

Vince Carter signed a three-year deal with the Memphis Grizzlies. It seemed the Dallas Mavericks were poised to keep the veteran, but Carter did not oblige.

Houston Rockets point-guard Jeremy Lin was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers despite speculation he was headed to Philadelphia.

Carmelo Anthony is staying in New York:

The Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers made late pushes in media-noise as it pertained the possibility of signing free-agent Carmelo Anthony, but after it was all said and done the super-star will remain in New York with the Knicks, according to CBSSports.com.

On Saturday, Anthony stated his intentions of resigning with the Knicks. The details of the contract are being worked on. While the Bulls missed out on their big-fish in Anthony, they did however land free-agent Pau Gasol.

Brewers SS Jean Segura son dies, takes leave of absence:

Brewers’ short-stop, and 2013 MLB all-star Jean Segura was placed on the bereavement list today as his nine-month old son passed away, according to ESPN.com.

A major blow for one of the surprise teams in the National League this season, despite Segura’s struggles so far. The brew-crew sport a very nice 52-43 record, tied for first in the NL Central with the St. Louis Cardinals. Segura is hitting a lowly .232 on the season with 41 runs.
