Well, much like any highly anticipated moment, finally the LeBron James decision has come to its exciting conclusion. The greatest basketball player in the world will be taking his talents back to the Cleveland Cavaliers, which is his home and the place he should have never left.
It was announced today through a LeBron James letter in a Sports Illustrated exclusive by Lee Jenkins, according to SportsIllustrated.com. The details of the contract have yet to be announced or even worked out.
In both 2012 and 2013, James was a World Champion and league-MVP, according to CBSSports.com. Now, it is evident that James has unfinished business to attend to in Cleveland.
Suddenly, Cleveland fans can now forget about the word “traitor,” and bring back the word “chosen one.” The images of the no. 23 jersey being burned in the streets can be thrown out, and the dreams of chasing their first professional championship since 1964 (Browns) can restart.
James met with Pat Riley yesterday in Las Vegas to discuss the future of the Miami Heat. Apparently, whatever Riley was pitching, did not sit well with “The King.” With this news, the dominoes will all now fall into place. Chris Bosh will most likely sign with the Houston Rockets and Carmelo Anthony will go back to New York. For Dwyane Wade, it has to be a bitter pill to swallow knowing he sacrificed money for the sake of the organization; and of course with the hopes that James would be coming back.
The nucleus of James, point-guard Kyrie Irving and opposite wing-player Andrew Wiggins (no. 1 selection in the 2014 NBA Draft) has officially begun today.
Brace yourselves Cleveland, your king is coming home.
