Top 10 reasons we love Benedict Cumberbatch

July 19 marks the birthday of the popular (and quite sexy) British star Benedict Cumberbatch. The Sherlock star is now taking over the United States one big movie role at a time. Just last year he was in August: Osage County, The Fifth Estate, 12 Years a Slave, Star Trek: Into Darkness, and The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug. However, he’s not done yet! He’s coming back this year with The Imitation Game and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. It’s his role as Sherlock in BBC’s Sherlock that blows people’s minds. While the man has proven over and over again that he can act, that’s not the only reason we love him. It’s his beautiful voice and lovely features that make us want to see more of the London born star. To think that in the beginning, he wanted to change his last name. Cumberbatch wanted to go by Carlton but chose to keep Cumberbatch despite the fact it sounds like an STD. His fans, if anyone, have fun with this name. His fan base refers to themselves as Cumberbitchs. Though he prefers the Cumber Collective.

Cumberbatch’s baritone voice sounds very similar to that of Alan Rickman’s. As a result, when Cumberbatch is on talk shows the hosts like to take advantage of this talent. Jimmy Fallon did.

At 2014’s Oscar Awards, Cumberbatch photobombed the band U2’s red carpet picture. A photobomb, in case you don’t know, is when you sneak into someone’s picture without them knowing. The picture of the band with Cumberbacth jumping in the background soon went viral.

On Jimmy Kimmel Live, Cumberbatch read the lyrics to R. Kelly’s song Genius. This might not sound like a big deal but I speak for the ladies when I say it is! His low beautiful voice plus Rap lyrics equals pure sex.

3. His beautiful blue eyes

Cumberbatch has what is called Heterochromia, which is where his irises each have a different coloration causing both to have different combination of blue, green and gold. This leaves him with the brightest colored eyes and make close ups better.

Sherlock is a very iconic character and only those who are lucky enough get to play him. Cumberbatch took the role as the first ever modern day Sherlock in BBC’s Sherlock. The man made people fall in love with his performance. He does a great job with capturing all of Sherlock’s strange qualities and crime solving abilities.Sherlock is planning on filming season four in early 2015. Seasons one through three can be found on Netflix.
