'Action Comics' No. 1, first Superman appearance, up for auction on eBay

The first issue of Action Comics, where Superman made his debut, is currently up for bid on eBay and for those interested, it will cost a pretty penny.

After a day, the comic already has 15 bids and currently sits at $1.65 million on eBay after starting at $1 million. Only those who get pre-qualified are able to bid on what the seller says is "The finest known copy of the most sought after comic book in the world."

The notes also add that the issue is a "1938 museum piece with PERFECT WHITE pristine pages."

A portion of the proceeds from the auction will be going to the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. The first issue was put up for auction by Pristine Comics owner Darren Adams and it received a Certified Guaranty Co. 9.0.

There are only two graded at a 9.0 and none higher. According to Variety, the other issue was purchased by Nicolas Cage for $2.16 million.

"The quality and preservation of this Action No. 1 is astounding," CGC Primary Grader Paul Litch said. "The book looks and feels like it just came off the newsstand. It is supple, the colors are deep and rich and the quality of the white pages is amazing for a comic that is 76 years old."
