Active Child - 'Rapor' EP review

Active Child is a relatively new name in alternative electronic music. Active Child is the artistic name for the man behind the music, Pat Grossi. He released his most recent EP, Rapor in 2013. He released his debut studio album, You Are All I See in 2011.

Rapor is a clever EP filled with six electronic pieces reminiscent of eighties pop. Each song contains addictive synth pieces, keyboard work and high echoing vocals. Active Child brings a new feel to classic alternative electro music cool enough to keep the whole EP on repeat. Lyrics about a handful of life events ring true with a unique sound. Active Child pushes boundaries with futuristic melodies as part of his twist on alternative electro pop. The songs are all catchy in an odd way and make you think quite a bit more than one might expect of electronic music. My favorite track on Rapor would have to be Silhouette, which features fellow alternative sensation Ellie Goulding. The song was most recently used in an episode of Teen Wolf.

I highly recommend the entire EP to anyone who enjoys electronic music. Some of the songs remind me of music from The Cure, which I think is a pretty cool aspect of a solo musician in 2014. Those who like Ellie Goulding will most likely enjoy the EP. If you do like Rapor, you should absolutely check out You Are All I See!

Some other notable tracks include “Feeling Is Gone” and “She Cut Me.”
