Andrew Wiggins just reminded everybody in the league that sometimes young kids do in fact “get it.” For all the NBA drama that surrounds the summers – players using power-plays to get where they want – Wiggins announced to the world today that he’s content wherever he goes.
"I just want to play for a team that wants me. So whichever team wants me I'll play for," he told ESPN's "SportsCenter," from Tarrytown, New York, where he was taking part in a photo shoot for Panini trading cards, according to ESPN.com.
It is, simply put, a breath of fresh air to hear a youngster proclaim he’ll play for whoever wants him.
The Cleveland Cavaliers selected Wiggins with the first-overall pick in the 2014 Draft and signed him to a four-year deal on July 24th. Because of the signing, league rules state he cannot be traded until 30-days after the contract signing, according to CBSSports.com.
Since LeBron James decided to make Cleveland his home once again, the Kevin Love for Wiggins trade rumors have been highly publicized. Whether it’s a done deal or not remains to be seen, but for Wiggins it seems he’s ready to play for whoever wants him the most.
Wiggins also said this: "At the end of the day you have to remember that the NBA is a business before anything. I'm a rookie. I really don't have too much say.”
Nicely put Andrew Wiggins.
