New York Jets suspend CB Dimitri Patterson

The New York Jets have suspended cornerback Dimitri Patterson indefinitely after the player did not show up for their preseason game or practice the next day.

Patterson went missing for 48 hours and the Jets did not hear from him or his agent until Sunday night when he had a meeting with the team, according to ESPN.

Patterson missed the Jets preseason game against the Giants on Friday night, even though was present at the team meetings, walkthrough and pregame meal earlier in the day.

General manager John Idzik told reporters that the suspension is to give the Jets more time to understand the situation.

“That way we’ll make a well-informed decision on what discipline will be forthcoming and there will be discipline involved.”

Patterson was signed by the Jets this offseason to a one-year deal worth $3 million, according to NY Daily News.

He is on his seventh team in 10 years in the NFL and is known to get injured often. He has missed 33 games in the past three seasons because of injuries.

Patterson’s suspension will not help the Jets cornerback situation. Dee Milner and Antonio Allen are questionable for the Jets first game and rookie Dexter McDougle is out for the season after tearing a ligament in his knee.
