Winona Ryder, Alfred Molina and Jon Bernthal joined Catherine Keener and Oscar Isaac in HBO's Show Me a Hero miniseries from The Wire co-creator David Simon.
The miniseries is about Mayor Nick Wasicsko who is forced to build low-income housing in Yonkers. The young mayor's career is ruined as he tries to build the housing in a predominantly white neighborhood as class prejudices surface, TheWrap reports.
Show Me a Hero is adapted from a nonfiction book from Lisa Belkin, with Simon and William F. Zorzi writing the script. They will also executive produce alongside Paul Haggis, who will direct.
Inside Llewyn Davis star Isaac is playing Wasicsko, while Keener will play a homeowner.
Ryder will play Councilwoman Vinni Restiano, who is the mayor's friend and city council president. Molina is set to portray Jenry J. Spallone, a councilman who once was an NYPD detective. He gives a voice to those against the housing project.
Bernthal is Michael H. Sussman, who is a lawyer who represented the NAACP during a government-led anti-segregation case against the city. James Belushi, Michael Stahl-David and Terry Kinney also boarded the project.
