Jennie Garth was almost on ‘Saved by the Bell’

Longtime actress Jennie Garth was almost part of the cast of legendary 90s teen sitcom Saved By The Bell.

With the airing of The Unauthorized Saved By The Bell Story on Lifetime over Labor Day weekend, a handful of new trivia facts about SBTB hit the web.

The unauthorized biopic, though questionable in its veracity, slipped in a few behind-the-scenes secrets that will surprise some dedicated SBTB fans. According to Us Weekly, Jennie Garth was actually in the running for Tiffani Thiessen’s role as bombshell beauty Kelly Kapowski. Kapowski would forever change Thiessen’s career.

The Unauthorized Saved By The Bell Story shows a casting scene in which Thiessen and Garth compete for the starring role, and Garth is eventually axed by production executives.

Thiessen and Garth later worked on Beverly Hills, 90210 together from 1994 until 2000 entering a feud that permanently ended their friendship.

Dustin Diamond, who played Screech, produced the flick that was based on his controversial memoir about working on the show. While the TV movie didn’t necessarily garner much praise from critics, it did spill some interesting on-set details from one of America’s favorite sitcoms.
