Orange is the New Black star Laverne Cox is landing her first major guest starring role on the second season of MTV’s show Faking It .
The Emmy-nominated actress will play the character of Margot, an alumna of the fictional Hester High in the series who comes back to direct the school’s drama club. During her time at the school, Cox’s character puts the students through numerous challenges all designed to tear them down. The character is described as intense, demanding, and full of herself, according to Entertainment Weekly. The character is far cry from her role as caring and friendly hairdresser Sophia on the hit Netflix show.
Faking It revolves around two girl friends who unwillingly enter into a faux lesbian relationship after they attend a party and their popularity quickly soars, leaving one of the girls realizing that they have developed feelings for the other.
The role seems to be a great fit for the actress, since she is active in championing for LGBT rights.
This will be a busy year for the actress as she continues work on Orange is the New Black, in addition to her appearance on Faking It. She will also guest star on Bravo’s first scripted series Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce, according to TheWrap . Cox will play a war journalist and LGBT activist on the show when it premieres in December.
Season two of Faking It premieres on Sept. 23 on MTV
