Zachary Quinto signs up for NBC's 'The Slap'

"What does Spock do on his off-time? Star in television mini-series. After working on FX’s American Horror Story, Zachary Quinto is adding another project to his resume, NBC’s ‘The Slap.’

Quinto, who stars in the rebooted Star Trek series as everyone’s favorite Vulcan, will star as the man who lands the titular slap that causes the drama to unfold. According to Deadline, his character, Harry, is a married mechanic with a child of his own, but he picks the wrong fight when he slaps another couple’s child.

Brian Cox (Nuremberg) also joined the mini-series and will play Manolis, the elder patriarch of the family at the center of the drama.

Mary Louise-Parker of Weeds fame will star in the series along with Peter Sarsgaard.

According to Variety, The Slap is based on a 2011 Australian series and received an eight-episode order. Jon Robin Baitz (The West Wing) is writing every episode.

Quinto was nominated for an Emmy for his work on the second season of AHS. He is expected to play Spock once again in a third Star Trek film and also starred on NBC’s Heroes as Skylar.
