Angelina Jolie wants to quit acting to pursue directing

Angelina Jolie told Du Jour magazine that she now would like to focus more on her directing career and stop acting, Female First reported on Sunday.

"I've never been comfortable as an actor - I've never loved being in front of the camera," Jolie said to Du Jour.

Jolie, who first appeared onscreen in Lookin' to Get Out at the age of 7, won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Girl, Interrupted. Since then, Jolie has appeared in notable films such as Changeling, Salt and this year's Maleficent as the famous Disney villain.

However Jolie hopes to steer in a different career direction soon.

"I didn't ever think I could direct," Jolie said. "[B]ut I hope I'm able to have a career at it because I'm much happier."

Jolie has directed a total of three released films including her first work on the documentary A Place in Time in 2007. Her first feature film In the Land of Blood and Honey, which Jolie also wrote, was nominated of the 2012 Golden Globe award for Best Foreign Film, but lost to A Separation.

According to her IMDB page, Jolie is set to appear in at least two movies in 2015, By the Sea, which she is also directing, and voicing a character in Kung Fu Panda 3. She is also rumored to return for Salt 2.
