Eddie Redmanye describes his 'catastrophically bad' 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' audition

Eddie Redmayne may be taking home the Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything, but don't expect to see him in Star Wars: The Force Awakens next year.

There's a good reason.

When speaking on the podcast Happy Sad Confused, Redmayne said he had a terrible audition for the Star Wars sequel and described his unsuccessful attempt to land a role.

“Recently my Star Wars audition was pretty catastrophically bad," he said. "There’s this wonderful casting director called Nina Gold, who I absolutely love. I went in and did this scene, and after seven times of trying to play… [Gold] was like, ‘Got anything else, Eddie?’ I was like, ‘No, I want out.’ ‘I think we’re going to have to agree to part on this one.’ I said, ‘Ok, that’s a childhood dream crushed.’”

Ouch.

This isn't the first time Redmayne messed up a big-time audition, as he also reportedly fumbled the ball on his audition for The Hobbit. Not to worry: The actor will soon be seen in Jupiter Ascending on Feb. 6, 2015. He is also set to reunite with his Les Miserables director for his next movie, The Danish Girl.

Speaking of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, if you happened missed the new teaser that popped online this morning, you can remedy that right now.
