Eminem releases music video for "Guts Over Fear"

The story of Marshall Mathers is well known. Mathers lived in Detroit, Mi for the early portion of his life and started his career rapping in the basement of The Shelter, winning over fans and beating other artists one night at a time. Now known as Eminem, Mathers has taken over not only the rap industry but the entire music industry with his insane rhymes and passionate songs.

With a brand new album SHADYXV and a hit single "Guts Over Fear," Eminem isn't slowing down anytime soon. He just released a brand new music video for "Guts Over Fear" featuring Sia, and it seems as though Mathers has taken his own life story and told it through different characters.

The video opens with a boxer preparing to enter the ring, wearing a XV red robe, then a quick transition to life six months prior to this event. As fans, you are able to see the struggle that this main character has been going through, working a dead end job, not being able to pay bills and dealing with an alcoholic father.

"Guts Over Fear" also features Eminem performing and Sia singing the chorus. The passion behind this song takes on a new life hearing it matched up with this emotional story that seems to be a visual parallel to that of Eminem's own life.

This is a refreshing change for Eminem to go back to a storyline heavy video that still feels personal. In a few shots it is clear that the video is set in his home state of Michigan, which brings in another element of emotion and personality to the video. The video is able to capture the story visually and adds another element that fans can connect with because it feels so personal and close to Eminem's own life.

Eminem has never been afraid to address his past head on and invite fans into his life. This video feels like another chapter in music history for Eminem. He has gone from being on the top of the rap game, to rehab, to being on top once again.

As he raps, "But I'd rather make "Not Afraid 2" than make another {explicit] "We Made You,'" it is clear that "Guts Over Fear" is more like a "Not Afraid 2" and this is a direction that feels like a "Not Afraid 2."
