'Pitch Perfect 2' trailer brings back Anna Kendrick and the Bellas (Video)

The pitch is back and it looks like the sense of humor of the original Pitch Perfect will survive the jump to the sequel.

Since Pitch Perfect 2 is in the hands of first-time director Elizabeth Banks, fans of the original had every reason to fear that the new movie might not do it justice, but it looks like Banks learned a lot. Considering she co-produced Pitch Perfect and co-starred in it, she certainly knows the material.

In the new film, it looks like our favorite group a cappella group, the Bellas, is back on the road to take their act international. They will be competing in the world championships, a competition an American team has never won. They have a tough road ahead.

Pitch Perfect 2 is also Entertainment Weekly’s cover story, too. Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow and Rebel Wilson, all stars of the first film, are on the cover. Skylar Astin is also back as Jesse.

“This is the stupidest idea I’ve ever had,” Banks told EW about directing. “My first movie is this huge studio movie that a lot of people care about that also happens to be a musical with massive dance numbers. I don’t know what I was thinking.”

As Cinemablend points out, the trailer begins with a new version of “Cups” (of course) before the gross-out humor of the original returns.

Pitch Perfect 2 opens on May 15.
