Ryan Murphy says ‘American Horror Story’ seasons are all connected, dishes spoilers for current season

After news of Lily Rabe’s return to American Horror Story: Freak Show, where she will be reprising her role as Sister Mary Eunice from AHS: Asylum, fans instantly made the connection between her appearance and the recurring character, Pepper (Naomi Grossman) who was last seen in Asylum.

Show creator Ryan Murphy confirmed to Entertainment Weekly what fans have been speculating: There is a connection between all seasons of the show. “This is the first year where we begin to tell you that season two is connected to season four which is connected to season one,” Murphy dishes. “That’s the fun of the show. Hopefully by the end of the run, be it 10 years or 15 years, people will be able to stand back and be able to say, ‘Oh that was connected to x.”

Keep your eyes peeled! There’s a ton of subtle hints of how each season is intertwined and will be in the seasons to come. Murphy confirmed that in the the latest episode in the scene where Maggie (Emma Roberts) is handed a cup of coffee by a cop, the close-up of a top hat on the cup is a major season five clue.

Murphy also revealed some juicy things to look forward to in the coming episodes. For one, even though Twisty (John Carroll Lynch) was killed and taken to the other side by Edward Mordrake (Wes Bentley), we won’t be seeing the last of these two creepy characters. Also, we can expect to see more murderous actions from Dandy (Finn Wittrock) aka “Twisty II” and his blindly sheltered mother Gloria (Frances Conroy) trying to cover up his tracks. Speaking of Dandy, we will apparently be seeing him in a 5-way-love pentagon between him, Dot and Bette, Maggie and Jimmy. The competition will get fierce.

Another part we’re excited for is Neil Patrick Harris and husband David Burtka to appear on the show together! We previously reported the news here.

What are you most excited about in AHS: Freakshow? How do you think the seasons are connected?
