Say your final farewell to Middle-Earth with a new song for 'The Hobbit:Battle of the Five Armies' by Billy Boyd

A music video for featuring the song that will play during the credits The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies was released this week called "The Last Goodbye." Any true fan might want to pull out the tissue box before giving it a listen.

When it came to finding the right song to play during the credits, Peter Jackson gave the quest to one of the former hobbits, Billy Boyd.

Boyd brought the character Pippin to life in The Lord of the Rings trilogy and this isn't his first time singing for the franchise. In The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Boyd sang a beautiful and haunting melody called "Edge of Night."

Boyd knew that composing one of the last songs of franchise would be a challenge.
“We had to get the song just right, to send the audience out of the movie theater in the most perfect way we could,” Boyd told Entertainment Weekly in an e-mail. "I think we discovered very quickly this wasn’t just a song to end The Battle of the Five Armies—it was a song to say goodbye to Middle-earth.”

The final film reportedly goes out with a bang featuring an epic 45 minute battle scene.
