Tips on how to seamlessly transition an outfit from work to play

One of the most daunting tasks for a working woman is balancing a career with her social life. Between cleaning her house, grocery shopping, and working an eight hour shift, there seems to be no time for that Day to night transformation. The polyester pin-striped suit, worn all day, is an inappropriate option for ladies’ night, and although comfortable, orthopedic shoes should not make an appearance at a party. And let’s be honest, though there is no shame in wanting to look fabulous after a day of filing, the solid hour and a half it takes to wipe the work day away leaves little time for happy hour. Unfortunately, however, the lack of fairy Godmother fails to accommodate the time-consuming task, or should we say chore, it is to get ready.
It may not be quite as savvy as the wristed flick of a magic wand, but with these 15 minutes of makeover tricks, Cinderella’s transition from “9-5” to “I have arrived,” will leave her with just enough time to make it to the ball, or should we say bar.

1) Planning ahead is a key component of transitioning an outfit from day to night. Insisting that your BFF slot has yet to be filled, remember, blazers are your best friend; they are a great way to cover-up what may be considered as inappropriate office apparel. By hiding your chiffon blouse under the buttoned jacket, you are professionalizing the party-prepped outfit. After untucking the shirt and removing the blazer, what seems to be cocktail-worthy clothing is revealed. Today also notes the importance to own a pencil skirt. It can easily be dressed up with the addition of a fun fishnet stocking. Can someone say sexy?

2) Preparing for a long day of work, it is understandable to tie your hair back to keep it from falling in your face. But the creased mark remaining after the removal of a hair tie is not an attractive evening look. Assuming that a fierce and flirtatious appearance is in higher demand, showering in the morning will provide you with just that. Once your hair is slightly damp, comb a stylizing mousse through the ends and pin it up in a low ballerina bun. This has two advantages: Not only will your hair avoid your face, but once taken out at the end of the day, loose and beautiful waves will have formed.
3) With a quick trip to the office bathroom before a night of fun, there is no time to perform a complete facial makeover. Thankfully, a little bit of lipstick goes a long way. Step out of your nude lip comfort zone and glide on a vibrant pop of color. Whether it is a rich red or a powerful pink, your lit up lips will scream sass and instantly dress up your bare face.
4) Statement jewelry might be frowned upon in the office, but luckily, can be stashed away in a file cabinet for future use. With the end of the work day near, know that the quick clasping of some chunky jewelry can really class any outfit up. Make it bright and make it big to juxtapose the monotone pant suit you are strutting in.
5) What girl doesn’t love shoes! Supposing that you rather not feature your boring black flat when out dancing or on a date, it is completely acceptable to keep a couple of pairs of pumps at your office for a speedy foot- fashion fix. Huffington Post’s Daytime to playtime stylists, suggest a printed pump such as cheetah print, to bring out your wild side.

Only taking a few minutes to perform each one of these tasks, you can be out that revolving office door in a matter of 15 minutes. But know, that comfort is crucial for any outfit and as long as confidence is contained, your night-life look will be perfectly prepared.
