After her live interview with NBC’s The Today Show was dramatically cut just minutes before her appearance, Amy Adams is discussing how confused she was about her treatment.
According to USA Today, the Big Eyes actress told the newspaper that she was “confused and definitely frustrated“ that her interview was pulled.
On Monday morning, Adams was set to discuss her new Tim Burton directed film but was told beforehand that a list of questions about the latest Sony hacks would be added to the interview.
When she declined to answer any questions regarding the situation, she was told the four-minute interview was not going to air.
“I expressed that I was uncomfortable. I said I would rather not add my voice to this conversation,” she told USA Today. “But it was clear they were drawing a hard line. That this would be part of the conversation.”
Adams said she was ultimately prepared to answer the questions regarding the hacks and assumed that the interview was still going to be taped.
However, just minutes before the live segment was to air, Adams was informed that it was cancelled.
“I was informed that they had decided to pull the interview,” she said. “I was confused and definitely frustrated. I still don’t understand.”
A statement from The Today Show to USA Today says, “As a news program, The Today Show doesn’t allow gest to put restrictions on interviews. In this case, after hours of discussion we felt uncomfortable with the demands being made and we determined the best course of action for all parties involved was to cancel the interview.”
