The discussion on whether a Frozen sequel will be made seems to be changing with the weather these days. However, fans can now rest on the topic because Disney will premiere the sequel short film Frozen Fever in front of their latest princess film, Cinderella, on March 13, 2015.
In a press release, found on E! Online, the premiere date for the new Disney short was revealed by the studio today. The short is said to be welcoming Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf back to the screen, as they celebrate Anna's birthday. The plot will follow Elsa and Kristoff, determined to give her the best celebration ever, only to find Elsa's icy powers making the b-day preparations no party.
With Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee returning to direct, producers Peter Del Vecho and Aimee Scribner back and an all-new song from Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Frozen Fever marks the first time a project reunites together for their original characters and world. While the press release doesn't say one way or the one, it is also expected that voice actors Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, Idina Menzel and Jonathan Groff will return as well.
Even a year after its release, interest in Frozen is still at a fever-high pitch. At the moment, the chatter about a sequel is still brewing, despite Disney never making an official announcement about one. Menzel, when speaking to The Telegraph, suggested there may be one in the near future, but later admitted she had no inside information on whether or not this is true.
Frozen Fever was first announced back in September, but this is the first time they have revealed when audiences can see the new Frozen adventure. Directed by Kenneth Branagh (Thor), this new live-action Cinderella stars Lily James as the title character, Richard Madden as Prince Charming, Helena Bonham Carter as the Fairy Godmother and Cate Blanchett as the Wicked Stepmother.
