The surprising Houston Texans are sitting in a very sunny spot with a record of 6-6 and still in the mix for a playoff berth. They'll have to fight for the playoffs the rest of the way without rookie pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Texans announced Clowney would immediately be placed on the season ending injured-reserve list due to a troublesome knee.

For the Texans, this is only the icing on the terrible-tasting cake as it relates to the number-one overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. Clowney, although freakishly talented, had many questions about his non-talent attributes such as the will to play and overcoming injuries.
The most disappointing aspect of the season has been the injuries, as right from game one on it's been an issue. In week one he injured this knee and underwent arthroscopic surgeyry on September 8th, notes the Associated Press.
Since that point it's been a struggle to get Clowney back on the field.
"He's a tough kid," O'Brien said. "He tried to go out there and play in the Cincinnati game. He came back in the first Tennessee game -- he really wanted to play. He really wanted to be out there for his teammates. But at the end of the day he wasn't able to do the things that he really wants to do to be the player that he can be."
For the season, Clowney participated in four games, registering seven tackles and no sacks.
