Three of Hollywood's biggest leading actors are about to share their talents into one film. Brad Pitt, Christian Bale and Ryan Gosling are all signed on to star in the financial drama The Big Short, written and directed by Adam McKay (the Anchorman movies).
Variety reports the latest updates on the new drama. The upcoming movie is an adaptation of the book The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine, written by Michael Lewis, who also wrote the book inspiring Moneyball, and focuses on key players in the financial bubble that broke down the economy in 2008.
Speaking of Moneyball, Pitt, in addition to starring, also produces The Big Short through his Plan B company. This is envisioned as a giant ensemble piece of A-list actors, much like Magnolia or Traffic. He was also the ones that roped in Gosling and Bale into the movie.
Start of production on this new Paramount movie is unclear. Bale, last seen in Exodus: Gods and Kings, is also set to star in The Deep Blue Goodby this spring. Gosling, meanwhile, is also just finishing up work on Shane Black's The Nice Guys, and has his directorial debut Lost River coming straight-to-DVD this April. Pitt also recently starred in Fury and wrapped production on his wife Angelina Jolie's latest movie By the Sea, which he also produced.
Word on this new movie came out last March. McKay, in addition to this, has also co-wrote Marvel's Ant-Man with Paul Rudd.
